It will hopefully be useful to anyone constructing the locking lever on these cameras,to know that the if the thread is not 8BA, then it is pretty darn close. The only drawback is that the new one is bright and shiny. Any ideas on how to put a little

You can get some brass blackening solution from a hobby shop.

Thanks. It has occured to me that I have some 'blue' left over from some years of renovating air rifles. Has anyone tried this stuff on brass?

Depends what the base constituents of the 'blue' in question are - some products will oxidise brass, others won't. give it a try, nothing to loose. Another route to aging brasses - again depends on the actual type of brass - is to dunk the part
