Title: Anyone heard of Alvatori cameras?
Post by: Waynemel on Jun 08, 2011, 10:42 PM
I came across this unusual brand and can't find any information on it (just some strange porn sites).
It sounds Italian, but apparently was made in Japan.

Hi Wayne,

Is that the one with the Suntar Auto Wide lens ?
Just saw such camera listed but the Alvatori name label looks a bit crude. Could it have been fitted afterwards ?

Somebody who did a lot of research on Japanese cameras is Flick

Yes, that's the one.
I have tried to identify the manufacturer by the body (assuming it is a re-badged version of another camera), but nothing is jumping out at me.

Hey, I just figured it out!
It's a Petri FXT.
I recognised the taper on the back of the body as being very similar to my Petri 7 rangefinder.
I wonder who distributed it as an Alvatori?

If the Alvatori shield is genuine you should look for an Italian distributor.

Wonder if there was not enough room for a leading S. After all Salvatori is a normal italian name.
