Yashica-44: access to shutter?

my Yashica-44 (not 'A' or 'LM') is having some problems with the slow shutter speeds. worked when i got it a couple of weeks ago, but they're firing late if at all, from 1/8 and slower. probably needs a little cleaning.

You need to take the fascia off. There are four screws, and cut-outs for the levers to pass through, hidden underneath the leatherette. This leatherette is very brittle and will probably shatter as it comes off (it did on mine)

yashica leatherette is probably the most brittle there is (well, the old leica vulcanite might give it a run...), and finding a good match for the grey cameras is tough, since every manufacturer seemed to have their own version of the color.  I have

i managed to get it all off except for the lower left corner, the smallest piece. which broke into two pieces. i should be able to glue it back on...hopefully! i'm staring at the shutter mechanism right now, wondering if i should start dowsing it wi

When you get the shutter up and running resist the urge to glue the leather back on right away. If the shutter is really gummed up it sometimes comes to life only to get stuck again if you let it sit for a week or so, and it will need a second helping o

I have a Toyoca 44 with a stuck shutter. Does anyone know if the above route to shutter access will also work on the Toyoca?
