I\ve inherited an AE1, when I advance the film the shutter activates, I\ve cleaned the 2 magnetic connection points under the bottom plate and cleaned the actuator arms that move them but still no change, I\m new at this so what else can I try

The  shutter latching is probably OK but I'd be 95% sure that it isn't reaching the latch-point because the main mirror-box spring-latch is gunked.   In itself that is easy to fix - but accessing such on an AE1  (ie: pulli
